In a recent meeting, SDM Kangra, Dr. Anjali Garg, gathered officials from various departments to discuss the escalating traffic problems in Kangra town. The meeting resulted in a comprehensive action plan, emphasizing the need for the police department to enforce traffic regulations rigorously.

Dr. Garg announced that the Municipal Council has been instructed to promptly clear encroachments on drains and conduct surprise inspections bi-monthly. Shopkeepers found violating these regulations will face fines to ensure pedestrian safety. Additionally, she plans to personally inspect the Kangra market in the near future.

The SDM also urged relevant officials to finish the construction of the bridge over Riyund Khad by September, which will facilitate the full operation of the four-lane road, thereby alleviating traffic congestion in the area. She further directed that patchwork repairs from Samela to the Kangra bypass commence soon and that roadside drains be adequately covered.

The sewerage department has been tasked with accelerating ongoing projects in Kangra. With the Shravan Ashtami fair approaching, Dr. Garg instructed the local police to strictly uphold traffic laws and take decisive action against any violations. She also mandated penalties for unauthorized parking in key market areas and other locations.
