Traffic Management Review Meeting in Kangra

In a recent meeting held at the Joint Office Building, SDM Kangra, Dr. Anjali Garg, led discussions focused on enhancing traffic management within Kangra town. The session saw participation from various officials, including DSP Kangra Rajesh Kumar, Tehsildar Prakash Chand, Trade Association President Ved Prakash, and Municipal Council Vice President Rajkumari.

The meeting involved comprehensive discussions regarding traffic arrangements in key areas such as the Kangra temple market, Kangra town, and Gaggal market. Dr. Garg instructed officials to assess the current yellow line system and expand it as needed, cautioning that violations would result in fines. She also emphasized the removal of illegal encroachments, insisting that footpaths remain unobstructed for pedestrians.

Additionally, the SDM mandated the cleaning of drainage systems along major roads and called for the installation of signboards at strategic locations to facilitate better traffic flow. She highlighted the need for stringent measures against unauthorized parking and directed that designated two-wheeler parking zones be clearly marked with yellow lines.

The issue of encroachments along the Gaggal National Highway was also addressed, with Dr. Garg urging shopkeepers to keep their goods within allowed limits, warning that legal action would be taken against offenders.

The meeting further evaluated the movement of heavy vehicles on the Matour bridge, with officials tasked to implement necessary measures to alleviate congestion.

With the festive season and Navratri approaching, Dr. Garg acknowledged that traffic around the Kangra temple is expected to intensify. She urged officials, traders, and the public to work together to ensure smooth traffic management, asserting that collective efforts could lead to a cleaner, more organized, and pedestrian-friendly Kangra.
