In a bid to improve the drinking water infrastructure within the Kangra Assembly constituency, plans are underway to replace aging pipelines at an estimated cost of ₹2 crore. This commitment was made by Nishu Mongra, Chairman of APMC and State President of the Himachal Congress OBC Department, during a meeting with the newly elected Pradhan and ward members from Nanderul Panchayat at his office located on Jamanabad Road, Ichhi.

During the meeting, representatives from Nanderul Panchayat expressed concerns regarding the outdated pipelines that are unable to satisfy the increasing water demand. They highlighted that the number of water connections has surged from approximately 40 to nearly 400, resulting in significant supply shortages.

Mongra assured that the replacement of the old pipelines in Nanderul will commence within the next two months. He also mentioned that new pipelines will be installed in Khuli, Kohala, Bhangwar, Ranitall, and Janyanakad to guarantee a consistent and sufficient water supply. He stressed that the state government is focusing on enhancing basic amenities in rural regions, with drinking water being a top priority.

While addressing the issue, Mongra criticized BJP leaders for their unfulfilled promises of providing 24-hour water supply in Kangra, pointing out their failure to update the old pipelines during their time in office. He remarked, “If the pipelines had been replaced on time, residents would not be facing these challenges today. At the very least, citizens should have been receiving water twice a day.”

Mongra commended Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, noting that the current government is expediting development projects throughout the state and is dedicated to addressing the fundamental issues faced by the populace with earnestness.
