As part of the ongoing Kangra Airport expansion initiative, the Land Acquisition Officer has sent out notices to families in the villages of Jugehar and Rachhialu. These families have previously received compensation for their land, homes, and relocation assistance, and the notices instruct them to vacate the acquired properties.

In addition, residents from Kyodia village have expressed their worries regarding the timing of these evacuation orders. They highlighted that the monsoon season complicates their ability to leave their homes, as the construction of their new residences remains unfinished. Furthermore, they noted that schools for their children will remain operational until March, making the relocation process even more challenging.

Local community members have reached out to the administration, requesting more time to complete their new homes. They assured officials that they would willingly vacate the acquired land and properties once their new houses are ready.

This situation underscores the increasing tension between the pressing needs of the airport expansion project and the real-life challenges faced by families displaced during the rainy season.
