Prohibitory Measures for Public Safety

Amingaon, Dec 27: As the winter season approaches along with the festive celebrations of New Year and Magh Bihu, the Kamrup district authorities have enacted a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS). This measure aims to uphold law and order, ensure public peace, and protect the environment at popular picnic spots and tourist locations throughout the district.

This order has been issued in light of anticipated large crowds at picnic areas and riverbanks, alongside reports of activities that could lead to public disturbances, environmental harm, and disruptions to tranquility.

According to the directive, the following actions are now banned across Kamrup district with immediate effect:

• Gathering for picnics or feasts at designated picnic areas after 5 pm.

• The use or disposal of non-biodegradable plastics and related products in and around picnic sites and riverbanks.

• Operation of loudspeakers, DJs, public address systems, and other noise-producing equipment.

• The sale, purchase, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in and around picnic areas and riverbanks.

• Littering and open defecation in and around picnic sites and riverbanks.

This prohibitory order is intended to curb reckless behavior, prevent traffic violations, protect the environment, and safeguard aquatic life and forest regions, while also ensuring the safety of individuals and property.

Any violations of this order will result in penalties under Section 223 of the BNSS and other applicable legal provisions. The Superintendent of Police in Kamrup has been tasked with the strict enforcement of this order.

The prohibitory measures will remain effective until further notice.
