Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh Shine with Gold at Asian Games

Triumphant Moment at the Asian Games

Indian shooter Kamaljeet, alongside his partner Suruchi Singh, achieved a remarkable victory by securing the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games. The duo amassed a total of 484.6 points in the final, surpassing South Korea, which earned the silver medal with 478.0 points. Iran took home the bronze with 415.8 points, while Indonesia was eliminated with a score of 349.4 points.

Kamaljeet Expresses Gratitude

Upon returning home with the gold medal, Kamaljeet expressed his joy in an interview, stating that winning the Asian Games gold was a long-held dream. He acknowledged the invaluable support from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and all those who played a role in their success. He also commended Suruchi Singh, referring to her as an exceptional shooter.

"I feel absolutely wonderful. My dream has been fulfilled: the dream of a gold medal in the Asian Games. Everyone’s support has been incredible: the NRAI, the SAI, and everybody. We are only here because of everyone’s support. Suruchi is a fantastic shooter," he remarked.

Record-Breaking Performance

The Indian pair not only won gold but also set a new Asian record, breaking the previous mark of 481.3 set by Uzbekistan earlier this year during the Asian Shooting Championships held in New Delhi.

Reflecting on the medal ceremony, Kamaljeet described the moment when the national flag was raised as indescribable. He stated, "The feeling of watching the tricolour flag go up is something that cannot be described in words. There is no better feeling."
