Kalyani Vishwakarma, a woman constable with the Border Security Force (BSF), has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to earn a silver medal at the Senior Asian Karate Championships. This remarkable event took place in Amman, Jordan, from September 9 to 11.

The BSF announced this achievement on social media, stating, "Mahila Constable Kalyani Vishwakarma of the BSF Karate Team has made both India and the BSF proud by securing the second position and winning a Silver Medal at the prestigious Senior Asian Karate Championships (Cadet/Under-21 category) held in Amman, Jordan from September 9 to 11, 2026."

First Indian Woman to Compete in Finals

Kalyani competed in the Kumite +68 kg category, where she not only reached the finals but also became the first Indian woman to do so in this championship, ultimately winning the silver medal for her country.

"Her achievement is a proud moment for the entire Seema Prahari Pariwar and the nation," the BSF remarked.

The BSF hailed this accomplishment as a historic milestone for both the force and the nation. The Director General of BSF extended heartfelt congratulations to Kalyani and her coach, expressing hopes for her continued success in the future.
