Kagiso Rabada's Comeback to India

Kagiso Rabada, the South African fast bowler, has made his return to India following a suspension earlier this year. His suspension was a result of testing positive for a recreational substance during the SA20 league while playing for MI Cape Town. Notably, the substance in question was not classified as performance-enhancing, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Upon his departure from the IPL on April 3, the Gujarat Titans described his exit as a "personal matter" without elaborating further. This left fans uncertain about his potential return. Later, the South African Cricketers' Association confirmed that Rabada had been provisionally suspended due to a drug test, although they did not disclose the specific substance or whether the test occurred during competition.

Rabada's Statement:

"As reported, I recently returned to South Africa from the IPL for personal reasons, stemming from an adverse analytical finding related to a recreational drug.

"I sincerely apologize to everyone I have disappointed. I will never take the opportunity to play cricket for granted. This privilege extends beyond my personal goals. I am currently under provisional suspension and eagerly anticipate my return to the sport I cherish."

Gratitude Expressed:

"I could not have navigated this situation alone. I want to express my gratitude to my agent, CSA, and Gujarat Titans for their unwavering support. I also appreciate SACA and my legal team for their guidance. Most importantly, I thank my friends and family for their love and understanding.

This moment will not define my future. I will continue to work hard and play with passion and dedication to my craft."

Kagiso Rabada's IPL Journey

Rabada was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for ₹10.75 crore during the IPL 2025 auction. He participated in only two matches before returning home. In his debut match, he gave away 41 runs and took one wicket against Punjab Kings. In his second match against Mumbai Indians, he finished with figures of 1 for 42.

Despite his absence, the Gujarat Titans are performing well, having won 7 out of their 10 matches and currently holding the second position on the points table. They need just two victories in their remaining three games to secure a playoff spot.

It remains uncertain if Rabada will play in the upcoming match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede on Tuesday, as Cricket South Africa has yet to provide any official updates.
