Kagiso Rabada Discusses Challenges of Bowling in India During IPL 2026
Kagiso Rabada's Insights on Bowling in India
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada, the star bowler for Gujarat Titans (GT), acknowledged the difficulties of bowling on batting-friendly pitches in India. He emphasized the need to concentrate on execution rather than fixating on the runs allowed. Rabada expressed his appreciation for his performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has excelled with 21 wickets in 12 matches, boasting an impressive average of 20.04. His contributions have helped the Shubman Gill-led GT secure the top position in the IPL standings, winning 8 out of 12 matches.
Rabada Praises Young Talent Ashok Sharma
Rabada also commended the young Indian fast bowler Ashok Sharma, who recorded the fastest delivery of IPL 2026 at 154.2 kph (95.8 mph). He highlighted Sharma's speed, enthusiasm, and determination as key attributes that could pave the way for a successful cricket career. Sharma has taken 6 wickets in six innings this season, maintaining a respectable average of 38.00. Rabada remarked, "He's fast, he's full of energy, and he wants it. And that's a good recipe for potentially a good career."
Coping with Pressure in Cricket
Reflecting on the pressure inherent in cricket, Rabada noted that it is a constant aspect of the sport. He stated that while pressure is always present, players gradually learn to manage it through dedication and preparation. "There's always pressure, and that's part and parcel of the game. You just learn how to cope with it at different times. So you just hope for the best and work really hard," he concluded.
GT has two remaining matches before the playoffs, facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) next Thursday.
