K Kavitha Launches New Political Party in Telangana Ahead of Assembly Elections
K Kavitha's Political Ambitions
On Monday, K Kavitha, a former leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, declared that her organization, Telangana Jagruthi, will transition into a political party and participate in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, as reported by a local news outlet.
The Assembly elections are anticipated to take place in either 2028 or 2029. Telangana Jagruthi, established by Kavitha in 2006, initially functioned as a non-profit cultural and social entity aimed at advocating for Telangana's identity during the statehood movement.
This announcement follows Kavitha's resignation from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and her departure from the Telangana Legislative Council on September 3, shortly after being suspended by her father and party leader K Chandrashekar Rao due to alleged anti-party actions.
Her resignation came a day after she publicly accused her cousins, former minister T Harish Rao and ex-MP J Santosh Rao, of accumulating wealth while making K Chandrashekar Rao a scapegoat in the purported Kaleshwaram project scandal.
Despite her resignation, the Council Chairperson Gutha Sukhender Reddy did not accept her departure from the MLC position.
Kavitha expressed her vision for a new political party that would provide a platform for individuals eager to engage in democratic processes. She criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, stating that it had betrayed the aspirations of the Telangana populace.
Earlier in the day, she also condemned the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the legislative council, claiming it had become a refuge for those who had previously betrayed the movement for a separate Telangana state.
Addressing speculation regarding her disputes with family members over assets, Kavitha clarified that her struggle was rooted in self-respect rather than property. She alleged that certain leaders within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi had targeted her maliciously, leading to her exit from the party.
