Court Delivers Sentence in Disturbing Case


Balasore: A man has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault of his 10-year-old daughter by the Balasore District POCSO Court on Saturday. In addition to the prison term, he was also fined Rs 10,000.


The accused, identified as Badal Singh, resides in Basukhunta, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Remuna police station in Balasore district. He was convicted under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.


The case came to light when the young victim confided in her aunt about the abuse, prompting a complaint to be filed at the Remuna police station on January 2.


Singh was apprehended on the same day following the report.


The prosecution presented compelling evidence, including DNA analysis, forensic findings, and testimonies from witnesses, to substantiate the charges against him.


In delivering the verdict, the court found Singh guilty of raping his minor daughter and imposed the aforementioned sentence.
