Juiphool Shines at National Film Awards

GUWAHATI, July 19: The film Juiphool, crafted by Jadumoni Dutta, has been honored with the Rajat Kamal award for the best Assamese film at the 72nd National Film Awards, 2024, announced on Saturday.


This poignant narrative revolves around two mothers living in the tumultuous Assam-Nagaland border region, where the villagers' daily lives have been drastically altered, characterized by nighttime vigilance and daytime rest.


Edmon Ranson received accolades for best cinematography for his documentary Life in Loom, which delves into the lives of traditional weavers across seven Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Ladakh, and Uttar Pradesh.


The award for best feature film went to Article 370, while Bhangaar was recognized as the best non-feature film, and Ram-Nami took home the best documentary award.


Yami Gautam was awarded best actress in a leading role for her performance in Article 370, while the best actor award was jointly awarded to Mammootty for Bramayugam and Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion.


Randeep Hooda was celebrated as the best debut director for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Additionally, popular films such as Kalki 2898 AD, Amaran, Pushpa: The Rule, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Stree 2 also received recognition, showcasing the rich diversity and excellence of Indian cinema.
