Judicial Custody Extended for Two Arrested in Delhi Bomb Blast Case
Judicial Proceedings in the Delhi Bomb Blast Case
A special NIA court located in Patiala House has ordered the judicial custody of Zamir Ahmed Ahangar and Tufail Ahmed Bhat for 15 days. They were apprehended in connection with the November 2025 Delhi bomb blast incident. Following the conclusion of their initial five-day custody, they were presented in court. Special NIA Judge Peetambar Dutt decided to extend their custody after questioning.
The NIA had requested a 15-day judicial custody for both suspects. On March 11, the agency informed the court that the investigation had been hindered due to protests in Jammu and Kashmir supporting Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting the request for an extension.
On February 25, the special NIA court had initially remanded Tufail Ahmed Bhat and Zamir Ahmed Ahangar to 10 days of NIA custody. This was subsequently extended for an additional five days on March 6, and further extensions followed. On March 9, the NIA collected blood samples and other evidence from the suspects in front of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Siddhant Sihag.
The accused were brought to Delhi under a production warrant issued by the Jammu and Kashmir police, and their custody was transferred to the NIA. They are alleged to have been stockpiling weapons and ammunition. Umar, Irfan, and Adil reportedly provided Zamir with a rifle, a pistol, and live cartridges, all of whom are linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
Previously, the NIA had arrested several individuals in this case, including Dr. Shaheen Syed, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Adil Ahmed, Jaseer Bilal Wani, Nasir Bilal Malla, Yasir Ahmed Dar, Mufti Irfan Ahmed, and Amir Rashid. After interrogating these suspects, they were placed in judicial custody. The NIA is currently investigating the Delhi bomb blast case, and recently, the court extended the investigation period by 45 days. A severe explosion occurred near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025, and it is alleged that Umar, who was driving the car involved in the blast, died in the incident.
