Josh Tongue's Injury Update

England's fast bowler, Josh Tongue, has been officially ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia due to a toe injury, as reported by Cricinfo. Tongue, who was not included in the squad for the five-match T20I series, is set to return to the UK for a thorough evaluation of his condition.

The bowler has been dealing with an issue related to his left big toe during England's recent tour in Pakistan, where he participated in just one of the four matches in the tri-series. Over the past year, Tongue has been a consistent member of England's Test team and made his ODI and T20I debuts earlier this year. He is also part of England's emerging fast-bowling lineup, which includes notable players like Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, and Sonny Baker.

England's Upcoming Matches

England kicked off their tour of Australia with a win in a 50-over warm-up match held in Perth on Saturday. The ODI series is set to commence next Friday, followed by five T20 matches.

Tongue's injury comes at a crucial time as England gears up for a packed winter schedule, which features a three-Test series in South Africa. The team is scheduled to play a warm-up match in Durban from December 9 to 11, leading up to the first Test that will start in Johannesburg on December 17.

With Tongue's injury, he will undergo further assessment in the UK while England prepares for their limited-overs series in Australia and the subsequent Test matches in South Africa.
