On Tuesday, Barcelona FC confirmed the acquisition of Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, commonly known as Rodri, from Manchester City. The 30-year-old has signed a contract with the Catalan team that extends until the summer of 2030. Rodri arrives at Barcelona after a successful six-year stint at Manchester City, where he became one of the top defensive midfielders under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
Mourinho's Insights on Rodri's Hesitation
Mourinho disclosed that Real Madrid had a substantial offer ready for Rodri, but the player's uncertainty ultimately hindered the deal. "I had several conversations with him, and Real Madrid presented a very attractive proposal," Mourinho shared with a media outlet. "There is a strong relationship with City. Without directly negotiating with them, we reached out to Rodri and made a significant offer. However, Rodri hesitated, and that hesitation raised doubts for me as well."

The seasoned manager praised Rodri as an "extraordinary" talent and acknowledged his respectful demeanor throughout the process. "I have no negative comments to make, but Real Madrid is a club that cannot afford players who are indecisive. When you reach out, the player should be ready to commit. Rodri was very respectful, and I wish him success, but not too much," Mourinho remarked.

Despite missing out on the talented midfielder, Mourinho expressed no regrets, asserting that the team is well-equipped without Rodri. "I am not lacking Rodri; we have a solid squad. While I won't rule out further signings as the transfer window is still open, I am satisfied with our current lineup," he concluded.
