Vineel Krishna's Visit to Vijayi Bharat Foundation
Vineel Krishna, the Joint Secretary at the Department of Sports under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, recently visited the Vijayi Bharat Foundation (VBF) in Ahmedabad. During this visit, he engaged in significant discussions with the foundation's directors and senior staff about the future trajectory of sports development in India.
A Legacy of Sports Leadership
Previously, Krishna served as the Principal Secretary for the Sports and Youth Services Department in Odisha, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the state into a leading sports hub. His efforts were crucial in successfully hosting the FIH Men's Hockey World Cups in both 2018 and 2023, marking Odisha as the first state to host consecutive Hockey World Cups.
Creating a Unified Vision for Sports
During his visit, Krishna engaged in extensive discussions with VBF members about enhancing athlete pathways, establishing structured development systems, and formulating a cohesive vision for sports in India, spanning from grassroots initiatives to elite performance levels. The discussions also touched upon the broader role of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the current sports ecosystem, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to elevate India's performance on the international stage.

Krishna observed a live fencing practice session and participated in discussions aimed at bolstering sports development initiatives. He toured the High-Performance Centre (HPC) and appreciated the hydrotherapy facilities, encouraging VBF to persist in its commendable efforts. The foundation also shared its long-term vision for collaborative support systems designed to help athletes excel at every stage of their careers, expressing gratitude for the valuable insights and encouragement provided by the Joint Secretary.
