Terrorist Neutralized in Joint Operation
In a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, a member of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group was killed. The Indian Army's 16 Corps announced on social media that during Operation Bihali, a terrorist was neutralized on Thursday in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. They confirmed that the operation is still ongoing. The Army stated, "Operation Bihali Update: One terrorist has been eliminated in the ongoing joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Basantgarh. The operation continues."
On Thursday, an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in the Basantgarh region of Udhampur district. The security forces initiated a joint operation named Operation Bihali, which has been in progress since the morning. Officials reported that this operation was launched based on intelligence regarding Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, who have been on the radar for the past year.
During a program, Jammu Range Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tooti, informed reporters, "The terrorists were located around 8:30 AM... It is believed that there are four of them, and we have been searching for this group for the past year." He added that despite foggy conditions, the search operation is ongoing, and the actual situation will be assessed once the weather improves. Officials indicated that the terrorists surrounded are members of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, and they were located by a joint search team led by the Army's Para Commandos near Karur Nala.
