Injury Forces Archer Out of ODI Series

London: England's fast bowler Jofra Archer will not participate in the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies due to an injury to his right thumb, as announced by the team on Wednesday.

The England medical team will reassess Archer in the next two weeks to evaluate his potential return to the field.

In his absence, Luke Wood has been called up to join the squad.

The series opener is scheduled to take place at Edgbaston on May 29.

Since making his international debut in 2019, Archer has faced ongoing challenges with elbow and back injuries.

Despite these setbacks, he has played in nine out of England's eleven white-ball matches this year, alongside his commitments in the Indian Premier League with the Rajasthan Royals.

The Royals decided not to bring back the star bowler for the final stages of the IPL after they were eliminated from the tournament's knockout phase.
