The visiting team secured a 253-run victory, leveling the series at 1-1. Root, with scores of 46 and 77, begins his 12th term as the No. 1 batter, surpassing teammates Harry Brook and Australia's Travis Head.

Meanwhile, Henry matched India's Jasprit Bumrah at the pinnacle of the bowling rankings after achieving a remarkable match haul of 11 wickets for 109 runs, as reported by the ICC.

Root and Brook have exchanged the top ranking six times over the past 18 months since Root surpassed New Zealand's Kane Williamson, who also has ties to Yorkshire. According to the ICC, Henry's rating points now match Bumrah's at 870, marking the second-highest rating for a New Zealand bowler, following Richard Hadlee's peak of 909 in 1985. Only one New Zealand batter, Kane Williamson, has surpassed 870 rating points, achieving 919 in 2021.

Bumrah had held the top position since surpassing Kagiso Rabada in November 2024. Other bowlers making strides in the rankings include Jofra Archer, who moved up six places to 50th, and Jacob Bethell, who climbed 29 spots to 85th after the Test at The Oval.
