On Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Shantishree Dhulipudi Pandit, declared the institution as the most nationalistic campus following the inauguration of two new academic centers. She also announced the launch of an annual national dialogue platform named 'Sindhudurg Samvad'.
The inauguration took place at the 'JNU Convention Center', officiated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The event was attended by state Marathi Minister Uday Samant, the Vice-Chancellor of JNU, and senior officials from the university, along with Chhatrapati Babaji Rajé Bhosale from the former Thanjavur royal family.
In her address, Pandit highlighted this occasion as a reflection of JNU's commitment to equality, quality, and innovation under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
She introduced the new academic platform 'Sindhudurg Samvad', envisioned as an annual dialogue series bringing together scholars, thinkers, and policymakers.
The Kusumagraj Special Center, named after the renowned Gyanpeeth award-winning poet Kusumagraj, will focus on teaching and research in Marathi language, literature, and cultural heritage.
Additionally, the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Special Center will serve as a dedicated hub for strategic studies, emphasizing indigenous military traditions and the legacy of the Maratha Empire. Fadnavis welcomed this educational initiative, expressing pride that the strategic heritage of Shivaji Maharaj will now be studied at a prestigious institution like JNU.
