Jharkhand Woman Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Husband After 36 Days of Marriage

Spouse Murder Case Emerges in Jharkhand
In a shocking incident in Jharkhand's Garhwa district, a new case of spousal murder has surfaced just days after the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case.
A 22-year-old woman, identified as Sunita, is accused of poisoning her husband merely 36 days following their wedding.
The authorities have taken Sunita into custody, and she is currently in judicial detention.
The complaint was lodged by Sunita's mother-in-law, Rajamati, who accused her of murdering her son.
As per the First Information Report (FIR), Sunita was married to Budhnath Singh, who lived in Bahokundar village, under the jurisdiction of Ranka police station. Their marriage occurred on May 11, 2025.
Reports indicate that Sunita returned to her parental home after the wedding, expressing her discontent with Budhnath and her unwillingness to live with him. Efforts from both families to salvage the marriage included a panchayat meeting on June 5, which ultimately persuaded Sunita to return to her husband.
On June 14, the couple went to Ramanujganj market in Chhattisgarh, where Sunita allegedly convinced Budhnath to purchase pesticides for agricultural purposes.
It is claimed that on June 15, Sunita mixed the pesticide into Budhnath's food, leading to his death the following morning.
The police have sent Budhnath's body for a postmortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be determined once the report is available.
