Government Opens Dialogue with Protesting Students

As protests against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) exams intensify across the state, the government has agreed to engage in discussions. Students are set to meet with a team of officials on Thursday. This decision to initiate talks comes in response to escalating demonstrations, where protesters are calling for accountability and transparency in the recruitment process. They have also insisted that any discussions with the government be conducted in front of cameras or the media.

Congress Leaders Support Student Protests

K. Raju, a Congress leader and in-charge of Jharkhand, expressed support for the students protesting against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) exams. He welcomed the Hemant Soren government's decision to form a committee of ministers to engage with the protesting students. In a post on X, Raju stated that the Congress party stands with the students demonstrating in Ranchi for justice. He noted that leaders from the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), including the national president of NSUI and the national secretary of IYC, joined the protests to show solidarity.

Meeting with Chief Minister and Future Actions

Raju mentioned that Congress leaders met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren and submitted a memorandum regarding the issue. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for taking a sensitive and positive step by forming a committee of ministers to discuss the concerns of the protesting students and propose concrete solutions. Ensuring justice for the students remains our top priority.

Meanwhile, protests have surged over alleged discrepancies in the JPSC and JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and other recruitment exams. Students have announced that if their demands are not met, they will stage a sit-in at the assembly on August 10. This announcement coincides with the start of the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, where the exam-related controversy is expected to be a significant topic.
