Jharkhand Governor Emphasizes Education Reforms Amid Student Protests

Governor's Commitment to Education

On Friday, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Governor of Jharkhand, expressed deep concern regarding the future of students, highlighting ongoing reforms in the education sector. Speaking to the media during an event marking the completion of his two-year tenure, Gangwar addressed the ongoing protests by students over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission examinations. He suggested that the resolution of these protests should mirror the approach taken by the central government in handling student movements in Delhi.

In response to questions about the student demonstrations in Jharkhand, he stated, 'You have seen protests in Delhi as well. The issues there were resolved, and similarly, this situation should be addressed here.' Students have been persistently protesting against the alleged malpractices and irregularities in the examinations conducted by the state commissions. Gangwar emphasized, 'Every state faces challenges and irregularities. We are committed to ensuring that our children's future is not compromised.'

He further noted that reforms in education should be directed towards a 'new path.' Gangwar also mentioned that the state government is making serious efforts to enhance the education system. Reflecting on his two-year tenure as governor during a discussion with chancellors, educators, editors, and other dignitaries at Lok Bhawan, he reiterated that strengthening higher education has been one of his top priorities as the chancellor of state universities.

Recalling his tenure, the governor remarked that he has fulfilled his responsibilities with complete dedication, similar to his long parliamentary career. He expressed gratitude to the state government for its cooperation on issues concerning the state's interests and expressed confidence that such constructive collaboration would continue to bolster public welfare and development initiatives. Additionally, a coffee-table book titled 'Dialogue to Trust' was launched, documenting the initiatives, achievements, and public engagement during the governor's two years in office.
