The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, announced that his administration is working towards increasing the number of medical colleges in the state from the current 12 to between 25 and 30. This statement was made during an event marking the commencement of classes for the first MBBS batch at a private medical college in Adityapur, located in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
