This is not the first time the demand for Nitish Kumar to receive the Bharat Ratna has been raised. Previously, Union Minister Giriraj Singh had also advocated for this honor for Kumar alongside Odisha's former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In December 2024, Singh mentioned to reporters that Kumar has worked for the state's development, and such individuals, who have served their states for many years, should be recognized with awards like the Bharat Ratna. Currently, Nitish Kumar is completing his tenth term as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
