Jasprit Bumrah's Injury Keeps Him Out of the Oval Test

The final Test match between India and England is currently taking place at The Oval, where Indian bowlers are fiercely competing for victory. During this match, critics have heavily targeted Jasprit Bumrah, suggesting that his presence could have tilted the scales in India's favor. However, the reason for Bumrah's absence from the Oval Test has now been revealed, and it is not related to workload management.

According to a report from a local news outlet, Jasprit Bumrah is sidelined due to a knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced on July 31 that Bumrah was released from the Indian squad for the fifth Test against England, without mentioning any injury at that time. This omission led to increased criticism directed at him. Nevertheless, a BCCI official clarified that Bumrah is indeed dealing with a knee issue, but fortunately, it is not severe enough to require surgery.

The official further stated that the BCCI medical team is currently awaiting the results of his scan. The 31-year-old fast bowler is expected to begin his rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. Despite not participating in this match, Bumrah had an impressive performance in the series, taking 14 wickets at an average of 26.00 across three matches, including two five-wicket hauls. His most notable performance came during the fourth Test at Old Trafford, where he toiled hard on a flat pitch, bowling 33 overs and conceding 112 runs while claiming 2 wickets.
