Indian cricket sensation Jasprit Bumrah is back in training, gearing up for the upcoming Test season. He recently shared images on social media showcasing his bowling sessions with the red ball.
Current Status and Upcoming Matches
After being rested for the T20I series against Ireland and England, Bumrah has been included in India's ODI squad for the three-match series starting July 14. He is also set to participate in the Asian Games beginning September 19. Notably, he opted out of the one-off Test against Afghanistan, as it was not part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.
Bumrah's Recent Performance Overview
His last competitive outing was during the IPL 2026, where he struggled significantly, claiming only four wickets in 13 matches, with an average of 102.50 and an economy rate of 8.36. This performance marked his least successful IPL season to date.
In contrast, Bumrah was instrumental in India's triumph at the ICC T20 World Cup, where he emerged as a joint-highest wicket-taker, securing 14 wickets in eight innings with an impressive average of 12.42 and an economy rate of 6.21. His best figures of 4/15, achieved in the final against New Zealand, earned him the 'Player of the Match' accolade.
Upcoming Test Series Against Sri Lanka
India's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka is scheduled to take place in Galle and Colombo from August 15 to 27. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the fixtures on Thursday, as India aims to solidify its position in the ICC World Test Championship.
The first Test will be held at Galle International Stadium starting August 15, followed by the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on August 23. Both matches are set to commence at 10:00 AM IST.

Beginning November 19, India will face New Zealand in two Tests in Wellington and Christchurch. Additionally, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take place at home from January 21 to March 3, comprising five matches. This series will conclude India's WTC 2025-27 cycle, which has seen mixed results, including a 2-2 series draw in England, a 2-0 home victory against the West Indies, and a 0-2 home defeat to South Africa.
