The Inter-Division UT-Level Chess Competition 2026-27 concluded successfully at Yatri Niwas in Chanderkote, Ramban, with Jammu Division claiming victory in all six categories.
Key Highlights and Results
This event, organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, J&K, in partnership with the District Administration Ramban, featured approximately 59 young chess enthusiasts from various Jammu and Kashmir Divisions. They competed in categories for Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 boys and girls.
Jammu Division emerged as the champion in all categories, while the Kashmir Division secured the runner-up positions. The culmination ceremony was attended by Ramban MLA Arjun Singh Raju, who honored both the winners and the runners-up.
Encouragement for Player Development
During his address to the participants, MLA Raju emphasized the need for coaches and technical officials to scout for talented players and offer them consistent coaching and mentorship. He highlighted the significance of a long-term approach to player development, urging young chess players to aspire for greatness, stay inquisitive, and continually enhance their skills.
He also commended the District Administration Ramban for their exceptional support and hospitality in organizing the championship.

The competition showcased the young players' strategic thinking, discipline, and sportsmanship, providing them with essential competitive exposure and a chance to refine their abilities.
Supervised by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Nazir Hussain, the championship served as a vital platform for budding chess talent from Jammu and Kashmir, allowing them to gain experience and prepare for future high-level competitions.
