Police Raids Across Kashmir in Cyber Terrorism Case

On Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir police executed multiple raids across the valley as part of an investigation into cyber terrorism. Officials reported that the Counter Intelligence Wing (CIK) of the Jammu and Kashmir police has initiated a significant crackdown on fake accounts that facilitate cyber fraud and terrorist financing.

The CIK targeted 22 locations in the Kashmir Valley, including 15 sites in Srinagar city, as part of this operation.

Extensive Operation Across Multiple Districts

Following court approval, this operation spanned several districts, including Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, and Kulgam. It aims to dismantle a covert money movement network operating under the guise of regular digital transactions.

Investigators focused on a network of suspected fake bank accounts allegedly used to launder money from cyber fraud and funnel illegal funds to terrorist organizations.

Police Seizes Digital Devices and Financial Documents

During the raids, authorities confiscated various digital devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and storage devices, along with financial documents believed to contain crucial evidence related to the network's operations.

This action is part of CIK's intensified efforts to dismantle terror financing and recruitment modules. Previously, on December 16, 2025, CIK conducted raids at 12 locations across seven districts, including Srinagar, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kulgam, Shopian, Budgam, and Anantnag, to expose a recruitment module focused on the online glorification of terrorism.

Targeting Human Rights Advocacy and Social Media Abuse

Investigators are also targeting individuals suspected of misusing human rights advocacy platforms and social media to carry out activities harmful to national security.

This latest operation highlights CIK's growing focus on hybrid threats that combine cybercrime with terrorism, reflecting rising concerns over digital radicalization in Jammu and Kashmir.
