Jammu and Kashmir Police Arrest Nine Suspected Drug Traffickers
Police Crackdown on Drug Trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir
The Jammu and Kashmir police have apprehended nine individuals suspected of drug trafficking from various locations within the Union Territory. Authorities reported on Sunday that a range of illegal narcotics was also seized from these suspects.
According to police spokespersons, four suspects were arrested in Sopore, one in Kulgam, one in Samba, and three in Udhampur district.
In Sopore, at a checkpoint on Dangarpora Road, officers intercepted two individuals, Majid Ashraf Khan and Musadik Mehraaz, and confiscated capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus from them.
Additionally, on the Nathipora-Tujjar link road, a person named Umar Mohammad was found in possession of a substance resembling charas, while near the Sopore bus stand, heroin and alprazolam tablets were seized from Nasir Yusuf Shah.
In Kulgam's Nasoo Badargund, police arrested Azad Ahmed Naikoo, who had eight grams of a brown sugar-like substance.
Another police spokesperson revealed that a notorious trafficker was detained in Samba, identified as Masoom Ali, also known as Kala, who has been implicated in several cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police compiled a detailed dossier on Ali, and following approval from the divisional commissioner, he was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. He is currently held at Udhampur district jail.
In a separate operation, three drug traffickers were arrested during vehicle checks in Chenani, Udhampur district, where 8.29 grams of heroin were discovered. These individuals were traveling from Jammu to Srinagar.
Meanwhile, following directives from the Kashmir divisional commissioner, Shopian police have detained a notorious drug trafficker, Parvez Ahmed Ganai, under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
