Public Advisory for Calmness and Caution


Srinagar: In light of escalating tensions along the Pakistan border, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has released a public advisory encouraging residents to remain calm and refrain from engaging with unverified information circulating on social media platforms.


The Jammu and Kashmir Information and Public Relations Department shared a statement on its official X account, expressing gratitude to citizens for their resilience and trust amid recent events. The government reassured the public that it is fully prepared to manage any situation and that there is no need for alarm.


In response to growing concerns about misinformation, the Ministry of Defence has urged the public to be vigilant against fake news on WhatsApp and to depend on verified sources for updates.


The Ministry has recommended that individuals subscribe to its official WhatsApp channel for reliable information regarding defence issues.


In a post on X, the Ministry of Defence stated, "During these sensitive times, misinformation and fake news are prevalent on WhatsApp. Please exercise caution and follow our WhatsApp Channel for authentic updates related to the Ministry of Defence."


The Jammu and Kashmir government reiterated the importance of adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant agencies.


"Misinformation and unverified claims on social media can lead to unnecessary panic. Residents are strongly urged to avoid spreading rumors and to trust only credible news outlets and official government communications for accurate information," the statement emphasized.


The government also highlighted that the Health Department has activated its emergency protocols and is ready to address any medical emergencies.


The advisory further called on media personnel to act responsibly when disseminating news.


"Public cooperation in maintaining peace and order during these times is essential. Both the general public and media representatives are urged to share information responsibly and adhere to the guidelines provided by the government," the statement concluded.
