Jammu and Kashmir Congress Urges Evacuation of Students from Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Urgent Call for Student Evacuation
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has called on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to facilitate the evacuation of students from the Union Territory currently in Iran, as tensions between Tel Aviv and Tehran escalate.
In a post on X, JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra emphasized the need for immediate action, stating, "We urge @DrSJaishankar to prioritize the safety of J&K students studying in Iran and ensure their swift and secure return home amid the volatile situation."
The opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has also reached out to the stranded students, advising them to get in touch with the Indian embassy in Tehran.
PDP leader Iltija Mufti shared contact information on X, urging Kashmiri students to send a WhatsApp message or call the Indian Embassy at +98 9128109115 and +98 9128109109. She also encouraged students to tag the PDP in their tweets if they encounter difficulties.
Many students from Jammu and Kashmir are enrolled in various Iranian universities, primarily pursuing medical degrees.
