The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to utilize India's global diplomatic influence to swiftly resolve the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Speaking during the budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Abdullah expressed deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region. He noted that this crisis has affected millions and is causing suffering that extends beyond national borders.

The Chief Minister pointed out that discussions surrounding the conflict often focus on strategic and political aspects such as regime changes, the Strait of Hormuz, and rising oil prices. He highlighted the direct impact on India, noting that many Indian citizens, including those from Jammu and Kashmir, are currently stranded in Iran. This situation is manifesting in India through long queues at petrol stations and increasing anxiety among families.

As a representative of the public, he asserted that it is their right to voice concerns in the assembly. He urged the Prime Minister to leverage these relationships and personal diplomatic channels to expedite the resolution of the conflict, stating that ending the war would alleviate suffering and help restore peaceful coexistence among nations.
