Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Launches Major Water Supply and Sewerage Projects

Inauguration of Key Infrastructure Projects

On August 7, in Jammu, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah initiated water supply and sewage projects worth over ₹140 crores for the Udhampur and Reasi districts. He also inaugurated the upgraded Residency Road–High Street.

Officials reported that under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for a water supply project in Udhampur, which has an estimated cost of ₹124.19 crores.

Additionally, he digitally launched a wastewater management project in Reasi, costing ₹16.33 crores, which includes a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of three MLD. Addressing the gathering, Abdullah emphasized that these initiatives will enhance urban infrastructure, ensure safe and sustainable drinking water supply, and improve sanitation facilities. He urged the community to conserve water, adopt rainwater harvesting through the 'Catch the Rain' campaign, and construct check dams to boost groundwater levels.
