Thakur's Critique of the Current Government

Dharamshala: Jairam Thakur, the former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition, has launched a fierce critique against the Congress-led government under Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accusing it of hindering significant development initiatives in the Kangra district.

Thakur pointed out that after nearly three years in office, the state administration has not progressed with the expansion of the Kangra airport. He also claimed that the establishment of the Central University has been similarly stalled, with the government failing to allocate even ₹30 crore for its development.

“This administration has perfected the art of delaying essential projects and diverting public attention,” Thakur stated.

He further noted a decline in Chief Minister Sukhu’s popularity, citing the recent winter assembly session in Dharamshala, where he observed a lack of local engagement with the Chief Minister.

Thakur ridiculed Sukhu for “wandering around schools under the guise of morning walks” amidst evident public discontent. He attributed this dissatisfaction to the government's unfulfilled promises made prior to their election.

During the BJP's recent “Akrosh Rally” at Zorawar Stadium, Thakur remarked that the substantial attendance indicated widespread frustration with the Congress administration. He accused the ruling party of neglecting projects initiated during the BJP's governance, including plans to position Dharamshala as a tourism hub.

Thakur stressed that expanding the Kangra airport would significantly enhance tourism in the area, placing it on both national and international platforms. He contrasted the Congress government's “hollow assurances” with the BJP's achievements, such as hosting national tourism conclaves, inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Global Investor Meet, and fostering an industrial investment climate in Kangra.

In conclusion, he asserted that BJP MPs are actively advocating for local concerns in Parliament and expressed confidence that various projects would be realized through the central government. However, he expressed skepticism regarding the Sukhu administration, accusing it of closing down 2,000 institutions shortly after taking office and stalling development efforts entirely.
