PM Modi Celebrates Jadumani's Kargil Vijay Diwas Victory

During their conversation, PM Modi inquired about Jadumani's significant win on Kargil Vijay Diwas, asking, "Who won on Kargil Vijay Diwas?" in a video posted on his YouTube channel. Jadumani expressed that the date was particularly meaningful to him due to his ties with the Indian Army. He stated, "It was Kargil Day. The day I fought against Pakistan was on that day. Being from the Indian Army, I was very determined that I had to beat Pakistan. I defeated them 5-0 and dedicated it to our Indian Army heroes."

In the Round of 16 at the Games, Jadumani achieved a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Pakistan's Sumama Rehman.

PM Modi Acknowledges the Significance of the Victory

PM Modi praised Jadumani for dedicating his victory to the Kargil heroes, emphasizing that this gesture added profound significance to his achievement. He remarked, "Remembering that, especially since you are from the forces yourself... I truly believe the sentiment you expressed, dedicating your medal to the Kargil winners, added extra glory to that victory. And you defeated exactly the one you were supposed to!"

Mirabai Chanu's Emotional Gold Medal Win

In addition to Jadumani, PM Modi also commended Mirabai Chanu for her touching medal-winning moment. Chanu, who solidified her status as one of India's greatest weightlifters, claimed her third CWG gold in the 48 kg category at Glasgow, following her previous golds in 2018 and 2022. PM Modi expressed, "You have brought great pride. So many tears were falling; it felt like a gold medal was dripping with every drop," referring to Chanu's emotional victory at Glasgow 2026.

Mirabai's Journey and Overcoming Challenges

Mirabai shared her emotional journey, stating that she felt overwhelmed after winning the medal, especially after narrowly missing out at the Olympics. "I was very happy and emotional that day. I cried because I had missed out on a medal by just 1 kg in the Olympics. A player has to face so many challenges. Over these four years, I faced constant injuries and family problems," she explained.

She added that the moment of standing on the podium while the national flag rises is indescribable, saying, "Standing on the podium, when our flag goes up and the National Anthem plays, sir, we just can't stop ourselves; tears come out naturally."
