Jadumani Singh's Determination for Future Success
Indian boxer Jadumani Singh has expressed his commitment to training harder after securing a silver medal in the men's 55kg category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. He emphasized the importance of learning from his experiences and is now focused on achieving gold in his upcoming competitions.
Reflecting on the Medal Ceremony
Following the medal presentation in Glasgow, Jadumani shared, "Winning a silver medal in my first Commonwealth Games feels incredible. Although I didn't reach my ultimate goal, I am determined to intensify my training for the next event and aim for gold. My plan is to return to training and address the mistakes I made during this competition. I dedicate this achievement to my uncle, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and all of India, including our coaching team and the Army Sports Institute (ASI), where I have trained since childhood."
The Final Match Analysis
The 22-year-old from Manipur earned the silver medal after a tough match against Australia's Jye Dixon, which ended in a unanimous decision on Saturday. Jadumani started strong, winning the first round 3-2, but faced challenges as Dixon dominated the second round 5-0 with effective counter-punching. In the final round, Dixon maintained his composure, landing cleaner shots to secure the gold medal.
Path to the Final
Despite the loss, Jadumani's journey was remarkable. He began with a commanding 5-0 victory over Scotland's Aaron Cullen, followed by a unanimous decision win against Pakistan's Sumama Rehman in the round of 16, which he dedicated to the Kargil War heroes. He then secured his place in the medal rounds with a flawless 5-0 win over Zambia's Mwengo Mwale in the quarter-finals and outperformed Namibia's Philip Haoseb by the same score in the semi-finals.

Back in Imphal, Jadumani's parents expressed their pride in his accomplishments, despite not clinching gold. His mother, Mandengbam Abem, remarked, "I noticed some weaknesses in his performance today. We were aiming for gold, but he will keep working hard to improve."
His father, Mandengbam Milan Singh, added, "We don't see this as a setback for not winning gold. This silver medal in his first Commonwealth Games brings us satisfaction and motivates him to train harder for future competitions."
