Jabalpur's Kanwar Yatra Attracts Thousands of Devotees

Jabalpur, Aug 10: On Monday, the Ranjhi area of Jabalpur transformed into a vibrant hub of spirituality as a large-scale Kanwar Yatra took place, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav actively participating. He joined the procession, showering flowers on the Kanwariyas and walking alongside sadhus and pilgrims who were carrying Narmada water to offer to Lord Shiva.
The event, known as the ‘Sanskar Kanwar Yatra’, was celebrated on the auspicious Monday of the holy month of Shravan, drawing a significant number of devotees.
Chants of “Bol Kanwariya, Bol Bam” filled the air as participants danced to the rhythm of drums and traditional instruments.
During the procession, Yadav was accompanied by spiritual leader Dada Guru and various public figures. He engaged with the crowd by lifting a Kanwar, playing the damru, and walking alongside the devotees.
Reflecting on the turnout, Yadav expressed that he had seen many Kanwar yatras before, but this one was exceptionally large. He noted, “I have witnessed Kanwar yatras previously, but this is the first time I am seeing such a grand gathering. The Kanwariyas, led by Dada Guru, have embarked on this journey with immense devotion.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that the devotees were carrying Narmada water as part of their spiritual commitment to offer it to Lord Shiva. He mentioned that the Madhya Pradesh government is dedicated to enhancing facilities for pilgrims, promoting religious tourism, and improving infrastructure at sacred sites.
Yadav remarked that Sanatan culture instills values of self-discipline, progress, and resilience in the face of life's challenges. He also underscored the spiritual teachings shared by the sants involved in the yatra, stating that life’s purpose extends beyond mere material pursuits.
“Life is not just about sustenance. By adhering to a sacred path, one can aspire towards the Supreme. Dada Guru exemplifies that existence can be sustained on the essence of water,” Yadav added.
He noted that the Narmada River holds a significant place in the spiritual heritage of Madhya Pradesh and is revered as a representation of Lord Shiva. The procession, filled with devotional chants, music, and the presence of sadhus and devotees, showcased the religious enthusiasm associated with Shravan Monday in Jabalpur, often referred to as the cultural capital of Madhya Pradesh.
