Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), August 4 - A soldier from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) allegedly shot a shopkeeper during a dispute over gutkha, resulting in injuries to the shopkeeper. This incident was reported by a police official on Tuesday. According to the police, the altercation occurred late Monday night in the Bhanuata village of the Surajpur police station area when ITBP soldier Surendra Fauji visited the shop of local resident Uday Pratap (42) to purchase gutkha.

Station House Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh stated that a disagreement arose between the two. As the argument escalated, Surendra fired his licensed pistol at Uday Pratap. The bullet struck Uday in the abdomen, leading to his injury, and he was subsequently admitted to a nearby hospital.

The officer further mentioned that based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered, and Surendra was arrested on Tuesday morning. The licensed firearm used in the incident has also been recovered. Legal proceedings are currently underway in this matter.
