ISSO Academy Completes Successful PE Educators Upskill Program Across Three Cities
Conclusion of the PE Educators Upskill Program
The ISSO Academy, in partnership with the ISF Academy and FIBA, has successfully wrapped up its PE Educators Upskill Program, culminating in the Level 1 Coach Education certification at Greenwood High in Sarjapur, Bengaluru. This program was spearheaded by Veselin Matic, a renowned Serbian basketball coach and former Head Coach of the Indian Men's Basketball Team, who introduced participants to globally recognized coaching techniques, player development strategies, and contemporary basketball teaching methods.
Expansion of the Program
Originally intended as a single-city initiative in Gurugram, the program expanded to three cities due to a strong demand from Physical Education educators nationwide. Following the inaugural session at The Shri Ram School in Gurugram from May 25 to June 2, the program moved to Ascend International School in Mumbai from June 3 to 8, and concluded at Greenwood High in Bengaluru from July 1 to 6. Each session included 15 selected Physical Education educators and basketball coaches, offering a comprehensive learning experience aligned with international standards.
Impact of Coach Education
After the program, Veselin Matic expressed his satisfaction, stating, "Initially, we aimed to work with just one group of educators. The enthusiastic response highlighted the eagerness of Indian teachers and coaches to adopt modern coaching techniques. Throughout Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, I encountered educators dedicated to their students and committed to continuous improvement. Coach education has a multiplier effect, as each teacher can inspire hundreds of young athletes, laying the foundation for long-term sporting success."
Investing in Educators for Future Growth
Aakanksha Thapak, Director of ISSO, echoed Matic's sentiments, stating, "The success of this program reflects the increasing demand for high-quality coach education within India's school system. At ISSO, we believe that investing in educators is crucial for enhancing grassroots sports. By collaborating with esteemed organizations like FIBA and ISF Academy, we ensure that Indian Physical Education teachers and coaches gain access to international standards and best practices, ultimately benefiting every student-athlete."
ISSO's Ongoing Commitment to School Sports
The completion of the three-city FIBA Coach Education Program represents a significant achievement in ISSO's mission to enhance school sports through international partnerships and educator training. Recently, ISSO has conducted globally recognized coach education programs across various sports, collaborating with organizations such as the Badminton World Federation, Kukkiwon, and the International Table Tennis Federation, while also reinforcing sporting pathways through its partnership with the Professional Golf Tour of India. Additionally, ISSO recently represented India at the ISF Basketball Championship 2026 in Serbia, furthering its vision of establishing globally aligned sporting pathways for students, educators, and coaches within India's international school framework.
