Israeli Military Issues Apology Over Controversial Map of Jammu and Kashmir

Israeli Military's Apology for Misrepresentation
Jerusalem: On Saturday, the Israeli military expressed regret for sharing a map that inaccurately represented Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, following backlash from Indian users on social media. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) had shared the map on their X account on Friday to illustrate the range of Iranian missiles, which quickly attracted criticism from users in India.
One user remarked on X, "Now you understand why India remains neutral. In diplomacy, no one's really your friend."
In light of the criticism, the IDF acknowledged that the map "fails to precisely depict borders."
"This post is meant to illustrate the region. We apologize for any offense caused by this image," the IDF stated on X.
Earlier, the IDF had justified the launch of Operation Rising Lion against Iran, stating, "Iran is a global threat. Israel is not the end goal; it's only the beginning. We had no other choice but to act."
Additionally, the Israeli Air Force shared a brief video featuring a similar map that displayed the range of Iranian missiles.
In response to the uproar, Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, referred to the map as "bad unintended" infographics on X, mentioning that he had requested its removal or correction.
India has consistently asserted that Jammu and Kashmir, along with Ladakh, is an inseparable part of the nation.
