Israel Voices Concerns Over U.S. Gaza Oversight Committee
Israel's Reaction to U.S. Gaza Committee Announcement
Jerusalem: The Israeli government has expressed its discontent regarding the recent announcement from the White House about a committee that will oversee future actions in Gaza.
This unusual critique from Israel, a close ally of the United States, highlights that the Gaza executive committee was established without coordination with Israel and contradicts its policies, although specific details were not provided.
In a statement released on Saturday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the foreign ministry to reach out to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The committee, revealed by the White House on Friday, does not include any Israeli officials but features an Israeli businessman. Among the other members are two of President Donald Trump’s closest advisors, a former British prime minister, an American general, and several high-ranking officials from Middle Eastern nations.
Earlier in the week, the Trump administration indicated that the U.S.-drafted ceasefire plan for Gaza is now entering a more complex second phase.
