Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, etched his name in the record books by becoming only the third player from East Zone to score a double-century in the Duleep Trophy. He achieved this remarkable feat by scoring 270 runs against South Zone during the final match held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kishan's impressive innings of 270 came off 334 deliveries, featuring 30 boundaries and seven sixes. He reached his first double century in the Duleep Trophy off just 270 balls and surpassed the 4,000-run milestone in first-class cricket. Although he initially retired hurt after reaching 250, he returned to the pitch to continue his innings, which concluded when he was caught at long-on by spinner Tripurana Vijay. Kishan Joins Elite Company

With this outstanding performance, Kishan became the third batter from East Zone to achieve a double-century in the Duleep Trophy, following in the footsteps of Arun Lal and Saba Karim. Arun Lal holds the record for the highest score among them, having scored 287 against West Zone in 1986, along with a score of 214 against Central Zone in the same year. Saba Karim scored an unbeaten 200 against West Zone in 1995. East Zone's Dominance

On Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy final, despite losing some wickets in the final session, East Zone managed to post a formidable total of 708 all out in 163 overs. Kishan and Kushagra resumed their partnership from Day 1, adding 230 runs for the fifth wicket, which gave East Zone a commanding position after finishing Day 1 at 385/4.

Kushagra's Milestone

Kushagra achieved his first century in the Duleep Trophy, scoring 101 runs off 132 balls, including eight fours and five sixes, before being dismissed. The partnership between Kishan and Kushagra was pivotal, taking East Zone past the 450-run mark before Kushagra's exit. Kishan continued to excel alongside Anukul Roy, helping East Zone surpass 500 and then 550 runs. He reached his double century before retiring hurt at 250, with East Zone at 611/5. Challenges for South Zone Bowlers

Despite some setbacks in the final session, East Zone continued to accumulate runs, surpassing the 700-run mark, putting immense pressure on South Zone's bowlers. The South Zone bowling attack struggled to contain the East Zone batters, with Mohammed Siraj, the leading fast bowler, failing to take any wickets and conceding runs heavily. Chama Milind and Tripurana Vijay were the most effective bowlers for South Zone, each taking two wickets but conceding over 130 runs.
