Congress Leaders Urge Citizens to Safeguard the Constitution

Angul: The president of the Odisha Congress, Bhakta Charan Das, urged all Indians to take action to protect the constitution, which he claims is currently in jeopardy.

Speaking at the 'Samvidhan Banchao Samabesh' event in Angul, Das emphasized that India achieved its independence through significant struggle, and that B. R. Ambedkar was instrumental in drafting the constitution. He expressed concern that the constitution is facing severe challenges and requires safeguarding, calling on every citizen to step up.

Das criticized the central government, stating that the nation is experiencing a crisis akin to war due to its failures.

He pointed out that rising prices and various shortcomings of the NDA government are leading to public exploitation.

The Congress leader also condemned the state government, describing the law and order situation as alarming and highlighting the dangers faced by women. He labeled the BJP's ten-month governance in the state as a 'failure.'

Das asserted that the citizens of Odisha have recognized the shortcomings of the dual governance (BJP at both the state and central levels) and will respond appropriately in future elections.

Former Union Minister Srikant Jena echoed these sentiments, stating that the state has not delivered justice to those displaced by mining activities and accused the central government of neglecting Odisha by failing to increase coal royalties.

During their visit, Das and Jena met with Angul Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain, demanding decisive action regarding a recent case of rape and murder in the district.
