Is Indian Air Force Pilot Captured? Government Debunks Viral Rumor!

Government Responds to False Claims

New Delhi: On Friday, the Indian government refuted a viral rumor circulating on pro-Pakistan social media platforms, which claimed that a female pilot from the Indian Air Force had been captured by Pakistani forces.

The rumor suggested that Squadron Leader Shivani Singh was detained after ejecting from her aircraft during recent conflicts. This claim was accompanied by an unverified video and references to previous incidents, notably the capture of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman in 2019.

In response, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India issued a statement firmly denying the allegations. They stated, “An Indian Air Force female pilot has not been caught. The claim is fake.”

Officials have urged the public to be cautious of misinformation and confirmed that no Indian personnel are currently missing or captured.

This false narrative seems to be part of a larger trend of disinformation surfacing amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
