Iranian Leader's Representative Comments on Tanker Incident

Dr. Abdul Majid Hakim Ilahi, the representative of Iran's Supreme Leader in India, recently addressed the firing incident involving two Indian-flagged tankers near the Hormuz Strait. He stated that he lacks official information regarding this specific event. Dr. Ilahi emphasized the ancient and robust ties between Iran and India, which span over 5,000 years. He expressed hope for a swift resolution to the matter, reiterating Iran's longstanding commitment to peace.


India's Firm Stance on Attacks Against Its Vessels

On Saturday, the Iranian navy fired upon two Indian tankers named 'Jag Arnav' and 'Sanmar Herald', which were transporting oil from Iraq. This serious incident prompted an immediate and strong response from India.


The Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned Iranian Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Fathali in New Delhi to formally register its protest. The Foreign Secretary made it clear that the safety of commercial vessels and their crews is of utmost priority for India. He urged Iran to take measures to restore safe and normal passage for Indian ships through this waterway.
