Iran's Bold Billboard Threatens Trump Amid Rising Tensions
Provocative Display in Tehran
In a striking move, Iran has revealed a controversial billboard in central Tehran featuring US President Donald Trump and his family positioned above coffins draped in the American flag. This display is viewed as one of the most personal threats directed at the US leader amidst escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. The billboard, located in Palestine Square with the White House depicted in the background, bears the slogan "Blood for Blood," suggesting potential retaliation against Trump and his family for military actions that resulted in the death of Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several of his relatives.
The mural prominently features Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and their children, including Ivanka, Donald Jr., Eric, Tiffany, and Barron, all positioned above a line of coffins covered with the US flag.
Response to Khamenei's Death
This billboard is largely interpreted as a reaction to the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died in US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28, alongside his family members. Images of Khamenei and his relatives have been widely displayed throughout Iran, particularly during recent funeral ceremonies.
Escalating Anti-Trump Imagery
The new billboard is part of a larger trend of aggressive anti-US imagery emerging in Tehran. Another mural in Enghelab Square depicts Trump lying in an open black coffin with the phrase "We kill Trump" inscribed in both Persian and English. Additional murals have shown Trump with his face in a rifle's crosshairs, while another display posed the question "Who's next?" alongside the name of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who recently passed away.
State-Supported Messaging
Palestine Square has historically been a key site for state-sponsored messaging against the United States and Israel. The murals in this area are frequently updated, and supporters of the Iranian government often gather nearby, waving Palestinian and Hezbollah flags. Reports indicate that many of Tehran's large political murals are created by the Owj Arts and Media Organisation, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This organization is known for producing artwork that supports Iran's regional policies while opposing negotiations with the US.
Trump's Warning to Iran
Trump has previously cautioned that any Iranian attempt on his life would trigger a severe and destructive response from the US. Following Khamenei's death, Iranian officials and state-aligned media have consistently vowed to seek revenge. Among the most notable declarations was made by his successor, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who asserted that those responsible for his father's death would not "die peacefully in their beds."
