Strengthening India-Iran Relations


New Delhi: On Friday, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, Iran’s Ambassador to India, underscored the robust relationship between New Delhi and Tehran, emphasizing their shared interests and values. He advocated for continued mutual support to tackle challenges.


In a conversation with reporters, the ambassador expressed that the solidarity felt by the citizens of both nations enhances their bilateral cooperation.


He stated, "The hardships faced by the people of India resonate with us, and vice versa. This mutual understanding is why the Indian government extends its support to us, and we, in turn, should assist India, as we share common beliefs and interests."


Fathali expressed his commitment to fostering deeper understanding and collaboration between the two countries during his tenure.


He also pointed out the ongoing diplomatic dialogues, mentioning that senior officials from both nations recently convened to discuss shared concerns.


"As I mentioned in my address, our relationship with the Indian government is strong, and our senior officials engaged in discussions yesterday," he noted.


The ambassador conveyed optimism regarding future collaborations, stating that both nations are dedicated to overcoming challenges and enhancing their partnership.


"We should pray for the removal of obstacles in various sectors. We are making every effort to address these issues," he remarked.


Discussing the leadership dialogues, Fathali highlighted that both countries' leaders are committed to strengthening their ties.


"They have engaged in fruitful discussions, and both sides are determined to put forth their best efforts," he said, referring to talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.


During the International Quds Day Conference 2026, the Iranian envoy called on individuals to uphold justice and truth.


"Strive to be on the right side of history. I believe that his eminence stands firmly on the right side of history," he asserted, emphasizing that Iran's stance is rooted in its principles and convictions.
