Iranian Youth Mobilize for Human Chain Amid Tensions with the US
Iran's Call for Youth Action
In response to President Donald Trump's ultimatum regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Ministry of Sports and Youth has urged young citizens, including athletes, artists, and students, to assemble at 2 PM tomorrow near power plants nationwide. This initiative aims to create a symbolic 'human chain' around these facilities. Alireza Rahimi, the Deputy of Youth Affairs, stated that this idea emerged from the youth themselves. He explained, 'The human chain was proposed by university students, young artists, and various youth organizations who suggested forming a ring around the power plants.'
Rahimi further elaborated, 'This symbolic act is termed the “Human Chain of Iran's Youth for a Bright Future.” We anticipate that young people from all over the country will participate, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the nation's infrastructure and fostering a promising future.'

This initiative arises amidst heightened tensions following Trump's deadline of April 7, 2026, at 8:00 PM Eastern Time for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has indicated that the US possesses a strategy capable of devastating Iran's critical infrastructure if the deadline is ignored. He stated, 'I mean complete demolition by 12 o’clock. And it will happen over a period of four hours if we wanted to. We don’t want that to happen,' referring to potential military actions against bridges and power plants.
Over the weekend, Trump reaffirmed his ultimatum, tweeting 'Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time,' while reiterating threats to bomb essential Iranian infrastructure, including power plants, should Tehran fail to comply. Targeting such infrastructure could be classified as a war crime; however, Trump dismissed any concerns regarding this during his press conference, asserting he is 'not at all' worried about committing war crimes while threatening strikes on Iran’s civilian infrastructure.
