Significant damage occurred at notable locations in the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai International Airport, the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, Jebel Ali Port, and a structure on Palm Jumeirah island. This was a result of Iranian retaliatory strikes following a military operation conducted by Israel and the United States on Saturday, as reported by local authorities on Sunday.
The attacks resulted in one fatality and left at least 15 individuals injured across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Details of the Military Operations
On Saturday, a coordinated effort by Israel and the US aimed to undermine the Iranian government's capabilities. In response, Iran asserted that the US-Israeli operation commenced while nuclear negotiations were ongoing.
According to reports, Iran launched 137 missiles and 209 drones targeting UAE territory, with most being intercepted by defense systems. Missiles were directed at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha.
Casualties and Damage Reports
In Abu Dhabi, one individual was killed and seven others injured due to an incident at Zayed International Airport. Meanwhile, eight people sustained injuries in Dubai.
Four airport personnel were hurt after minor damage occurred at a concourse during an incident. As a precaution, most passenger terminals had been evacuated due to the closure of UAE airspace.
Incidents on Palm Jumeirah Island
Explosions were reported on Palm Jumeirah Island after debris from a drone ignited a fire in a building, resulting in four injuries. Additionally, debris from an intercepted drone caused a minor fire on the outer facade of the Burj Al Arab, although no injuries were reported at the hotel, and the fire was quickly controlled.
